It is true to say that no pandemic is governed by politics.
Yet, politics plays an important role to generate confidence – economic, social and for the collective wellbeing of communities.
For this reason alone, this week marks a milestone in the economic recovery.
Regardless of the result, the completion of an election provides people with some certainty for the next three years.
People will start to make decisions. They will move forward with plans. And with positive momentum comes confidence. With confidence comes jobs. And with jobs comes recovery.
By and large, people have had enough of the downward spiral. Time has come to again take calculated risks, to get the economy moving and to create employment opportunities.
Yes, we will be cautious. And we will move knowing that there remains a race between pandemic and vaccine.
We will also know that we have proven ourselves resilient – a trait too, which breeds confidence.
