Queensland governor visits Logan

The Governor of Queensland Dr Jeannette Young visited Logan last week to see continuing clean-up and recovery efforts after recent flooding.

At least 265 homes and 62 businesses were inundated (water above the floor) in the City of Logan with Council reaching out to about 550 property owners impacted by the floods.

The Governor said she was impressed by the community spirit she witnessed while driving around flood-impacted areas.

She also visited council’s Marsden depot to thank the teams and emergency services for their outstanding efforts during the disaster and in the recovery.

Dr Young described the City of Logan’s flood response as ‘courageous’.

“The members of all our emergency organisations, along with the assistance of the ADF (Australian Defence Force) and all our community organisations, have performed remarkably over the last few months,” she said.

“It’s a blessing and probably a bit of a curse that we’ve got such a well-oiled machine in Queensland when it comes to disaster response. People just expect Queensland to do well.

“Logan is a really important part of Queensland, so much good comes out of Logan, you make me very proud to be the Governor of Queensland.”
