The Kingston Butter Factory has a long history in the City of Logan dating back to the 1900s and will now have a long future as a world-class outdoor entertainment precinct.
This Friday night the precinct will take centre stage as Council’s first Eats and Beats for the year rolls in with a great line-up of some homegrown stars and we can start the celebration that this great facility deserves.
Eats and Beats has been a highly popular event since its launch in 2014, and it is fitting that the first one for 2022 will be held at the city’s largest purpose-built outdoor events space.
And it won’t be lacking in star power with our own home-grown popstar Dami Im set to headline a brilliant line-up of talented artists. Dami will be joined by Zeek Power and The Pulse Chamber Orchestra.
In what will be a soft launch for the newly redeveloped precinct it is a great opportunity to get together with friends and family – something that we haven’t been able to do a lot of over the past two years.
Work on the $22 million redevelopment started in July 2020 and while the KBF was one of the City of Logan’ s most exciting projects, it has also been one of the most challenging to deliver.
The redevelopment was a great example of state, federal and local government working together to deliver important social infrastructure for the community while creating jobs.
The support from other levels of government enabled Council to support community jobs in what have been some tough times for many people in our city.
We want the new-look precinct to be a gathering spot and a venue for our community.
This Friday will be another piece of the puzzle in the history of the KBF and I encourage you to gather your friends and family to enjoy this great community venue.
