Have a say on Logan’s health

Logan City Council is keen for you to have a say on environmental health.

Council has devised a five-year strategy to deal with its responsibilities when it comes to public health.

The report was released last week and will be open for consultation until March 4.

The strategy, according to deputy mayor Jon Raven, sets out community health priorities.

“The health and wellbeing of our community has been council’s top priority as we have navigated the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic together,” Cr Raven said.

“There is no better time for us to be re-examining the many ways we can improve the overall health of our city and its residents.

“Council wants to hear from as many people as possible so we can ensure the best and most targeted community health strategies are put in place.”

Inside the plan, there are a range of health programs and initiatives which are managed by the council, including food safety, immunisation, waste disposal, water and wastewater treatment, disease prevention and the promotion of active lifestyles.

It also looks at ways to manage long-term environmental health issues including carbon emission reduction.
