Year 12 students Charlize Phippen, Lochlan Lovi and Sophie Fryer took home Emmaus College’s prestigious Academic Excellence Awards for 2021.
Miss Phippen received the General Learning Pathway Academic Excellence award for her diligent and professional approach to her studies along with her high level of academic achievement across six General subjects, making her the highest ranking student in Year 12 after all school based assessment.
Mr Lovi was awarded the Combined Learning Pathway for his dedicated approach to completing an ATAR course of study while completing a Certificate III in Health Support Assistance at Logan Hospital and having great success in his school subjects.
Ms Fryer took home the Vocational Pathways Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a diligent and professional approach to her studies, consistent application in her school subjects while pursuing multiple vocational learning courses and securing her traineeship with VetLove Jimboomba in 2022.
College Captains, Charlotte Fletcher and Lochlan Lovi were the Masters of Ceremony for the special event and took time to reflect on the year of learning and to acknowledge the achievements of all students throughout the year.
“Reaching a worthwhile goal will never be straightforward or easy, but the dedication you display on your journey to achieving this goal is what will set you apart from others.”
They also wished students, especially those leaving the College all the best for their future years of study and work.
Year 11 students Ashlee Challis and Lachlan Betts were recognised with the Olympic Change-Maker award, which acknowledges secondary school students who demonstrate values consistent with the Olympic movement.
Year 12 student Georgia Ward was the recipient of the Sportsperson of the Year award, for her significant achievements across a wide variety of pursuits most notably for being recognised for her integrity and sportsmanship by competitors and teammates alike.
Georgia Ward along with Year 10 student Emily Briggs were the recipients of the Australian Defence Force Leadership Award for their leadership and service within the college and in the wider community.
The Australian Defense Force Future Innovators Award recognises students who demonstrate innovation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. These awards were received by Year 10 student Harrison Begnell and Year 12 student Amy Grant.
Year 12 student Jessie Vaak was announced as the Ampol All Rounder Award recipient for active contribution to the life of Emmaus College. Jessie’s interaction with her peers and with students across the P-12 College was acknowledged, as was the pride and commitment with which she represented the College and community in music, sport and the Emmaus Cattle Show Team, as well as her academic and cultural pursuits.
