Missing brindle Staffy

I had an unexpected win recently, when, on my morning walk around the Argonaut shops, I noticed a lost dog.
I went back in my car and took him to Albert Animal Hospital, where they scanned his microchip and  contacted the owners.
It reminded me of a poem I wrote called  “Missing brindle Staffy.”
Last weekend, Narelle and I were strolling, we saw a notice pinned upon a pole
bad news for the owners of a Staffy, folks had lost their dog the story told
it made me think about our dear old Diesel, he always liked to have someone around
though he had a frightening appearance, he was more a kitten, than a hound
the first time that we couldn’t take him with us, he broke his chain and bolted down the street
we got him back next day, it cost a fortune. The Council didn’t miss us with their fee.
Next time I’m afraid we weren’t so lucky, we never got to see our mate again
only hope that someone kindly found him. To this day we miss our faithful friend
But getting back to that their walk last sunday, a sign inside a shop soon cheered me up
good news for the owners of the Staffy, somebody had found their missing pup.
The missing brindle Staffy, will soon be homeward bound
together with his family, happy safe and sound.
Missing brindle Staffy, I know just how they felt
Missing brindle Staffy… I once loved one myself.
Paul Wincen,
Woodridge.
