IÂ am spitting mad at the closure of the post office at Beenleigh Market Place.
It is used by so many people who go shopping there as they can use their taxi vouchers or if they used their resort’s mini vans, there is a safe dropping off point for them to access the shopping mall.
I rang Bert van Mannen’s office to find out to whom I could complain.
There is no longer a minister in charge of Australia Post in Australia, so I was given an address of the customer care and services department. I wrote on Monday and posted the letter on Tuesday.
This closure was evidently decided upon because of the lack of business at that facility.
I don’t know when they decided that because every time I go, there is always a queue.
Like many others who do not pay accounts via the internet, either by suspicion of its safety or lack of any connection, I really need a handy post office to pay my bills.
The central post office is so isolated from the commercial areas in Beenleigh and is hard to get to without a car. The post office at the Hyperdome is a long trek from the bus stop and the little post office at Eagleby isn’t able to handle all enquiries, such as passports.
This trend of closing down offices is becoming endemic.
Personally for me, the closure at the Hyperdome of the Bupa office made me change my health insurance and then the CUA closed its office there as well. It has an office at Coomera or Browns Plains. At least I can still drive but I shall be stuck when I am not able.
