The State Government is encouraging people to vaccinate with the promise of a December 17 opening of selected local government areas.
The future roadmap for Logan is December 23, just in time for Christmas, as ascertained from statistics as at October 19, 2021.
More than likely Logan residents will achieve this well and truly beforehand.
Currently, Logan has 67% with I dose and 47.3% fully vaccinated.
What is of concern, is that Logan is such a diverse area, that there will be pockets not reaching anyway near the 80%. It would behoove the targeting of localities where vaccination rates are low.
Using school children to bolster percentages must be viewed questionably.
To be noted is that, will a fully-approved universal vaccination certificate issued by Queensland Health be readily available to allow entry into venues after December 17?
I recommend that people vaccinate as soon as possible to obviate this time factor problem of receiving a certificate.
The Palaszczuk government has snookered itself as, if an outbreak occurs, it is a time when hospital staff take leave. The opening timing is popular vote catching but lacks potentially dangerous foresight.
