Solar panels on council administration roof

A new solar energy system on top of Logan City Council’s administration building in Webley Rd is expected to save $38,400 in electricity costs and reduce CO2 emissions by 250 tonnes each year.

There are 480 solar panels in the new system.

The system adds to solar panels which have been installed on rooves of the city’s libraries, aquatic centres, sports centres and at Loganholme Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Deputy mayor Jon Raven said the commitment to renewable energy not only saved ratepayers’ money and protected the environment, but also created jobs across the solar industry.
