Operating since 2016, Extraction is best known for its creative café space, tasty food and exceptional speciality coffee but did you know the real purpose behind Extraction is to “reach out to humanity” by creating positive coffee connections with their wholesale coffee roasting business.
“I’m a strong believer in supporting local. I think there is a great opportunity for hospitality and tourism businesses in Logan to work together. It makes sense to use our local resources to build a stronger economy which in turn will flow over to all other industries,” Extraction Artisan Coffee owner Alex Milosevic says.
“The café is what we are best known for, but actually our real drive comes from our wholesale roasting business.
“It’s our passion to introduce people to speciality coffee and what impact that has for the communities that grow this coffee.
“Over the last few years’ we have noticed customers taking a real interest in the journey of coffee, and this includes cafes wanting to supply their customers with ethical, high grade coffee where farmers get a fair price for the work they do to produce this very special product.
“Coffee is an under-valued product. The price of wine and other artisan products has all risen over the last ten years but coffee has not had the same price rise. Customers are still paying $4 to $5 and in fact, in many instances, farmers are now getting less for their product. This is one of the reasons why we are working directly with ethical green bean importers to ensure the livelihood of coffee farming families.
“Education is key to the sustainability of speciality coffee and this is where the Extraction team shine. Imparting their knowledge and helping café owners and baristas better understand the product they are working with.”
