Working together to be a proud city

When we launched MyCity Logan almost 12 months ago, we promised that we would celebrate our city and stand up for residents.

Sounds like a contradiction, but in our view it is all about representing our great city fairly, and in a way which helps people get the most out of their neighbourhoods.

As we have grown, many people in the city have worked with us to achieve this balance, and for that we are most grateful.

Today, we see that Wing celebrates two years as a business. This might not seem like a big deal, however when you look at the way Google and its Wing partners held faith in Logan as an area to launch such an innovative platform, it shows what we are able to achieve as a city.

In recent weeks, we’ve written about a man from Logan whose business is now worth more than a billion dollars, about a company that wants to recycle 4000 tonnes of material that would otherwise become landfill, and we’ll continue to promote remarkable success stories.

Today, you’ll read about Logan’s sports awards, which will champion those who’ve done us proud, not least at the Olympics.

Cameron Smith will be guest speaker, and he’s a proud Logan boy.

What this says is that Logan is a city of opportunity, and while we’ll report some of our own failings, we’ll be making sure it’s with the intent to make where we live a better place.

It is our mission as your local newspaper is to ensure we’re working together to feel great about our home, proud of our people, and part of our successes.
