It is good to see that people are doing something to help the flying foxes.
A lot of people think that they are annoying creatures, moreso because of the way they look than the way they act.
I know that technically, these native creatures are “bats”, but I feel that this gives them a bad name, especially after accusations that a bat caused the start of Covid-19.
Bats are featured in horror movies, and they are known for biting and carrying disease.
This is unfair to our flying foxes which are in the mega-bats category. They deserve the care and attention they are receiving from our environmental and nature groups.
