A little while ago, Yvonne visited the Meadowbrook Minor Injury and Illness Clinic. She received excellent care and was treated and on her way within an hour.
More recently, she needed treatment for something more serious and had to go to Logan Hospital’s emergency department.
While waiting, Yvonne struck up conversations with other patients. She soon realised many were there with injuries and illnesses that could have been treated at the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic just across the road.
Most had never even heard of it.
Yvonne makes an important point. There’s little value in having services available if people don’t know they exist.
The Albanese Labor Government invested $33.4 million in the Meadowbrook Health Centre on Nestor Drive, including a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic designed to take pressure off Logan Hospital’s busy emergency department.
The clinic is open seven days a week from 8am to 10pm, is fully bulk-billed, and treats urgent but non-life-threatening conditions. All you need is your Medicare card.
The clinic is part of a broader push to improve access to healthcare in Logan.
Locals now also have access to a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic at Browns Plains and a Medicare Mental Health Centre at Logan Central, giving people more options to get the care they need close to home.
These are practical services that can save people time, stress and money, while helping ensure our hospitals are there for those who need them most.
If you haven’t heard of these services before, now you have. Please help spread the word. You might save a friend or family member hours of waiting.
