Win for local elderly residents
Great news for residents of Residents of Arcare Aged Care and Halcyon Rise. After hearing concerns about ongoing hooning and safety issues around Flindersia Park, I wrote to mayor Jon Raven and councillor Jacob Heremaia advocating for a secure gate to help address these concerns.
I’m pleased to share that funding has now been secured for the gate, which is a fantastic win for their community. I’ll continue pushing to have it installed as soon as possible.
Catch-up at Talbarra Retirement Village
One of my favourite parts of being your local member is spending time with our seniors. I recently popped into Talbarra Retirement Village for a cuppa, a chat and some very special news – baby curlews have made themselves at home in the garden. Thanks to everyone who stopped by.
Regal Waters market day
It was lovely to see so many familiar faces at the annual Regal Waters Market Day. Special mention goes to Cathie Davies who surprised me with a beautiful handmade umbrella holder and shout out to young Payton Knight, aged just 11, who sold me a beautiful pair of her own homemade earrings. Make sure to check out her business Oh! Designs.
Keeping the pressure on housing affordability
Housing affordability remains front and centre for Logan locals, and it’s an issue I hear about regularly in my office.
Despite promising to fix the housing crisis, the LNP Government has cut approximately $4.8 million from local homelessness services and axed almost 10,000 affordable homes across the state.
I’ll keep fighting for more affordable housing, funding for our community organisations, and practical solutions like portable rental bonds to ease the pressure on renters.
RizeUp Christmas Gift Appeal
While Christmas is a time of joy and celebration for many of us, for families experiencing domestic and family violence, the festive season can be particularly challenging. That’s why I’m proud to support the RizeUp Christmas Gift Appeal, with my electorate office serving as an official gift drop-off point.
RizeUp Australia help families affected by domestic and family violence rebuild their lives through providing safe homes, essential supplies and practical support.
Wondering what to donate? Toys, LEGO, dolls, sports equipment, books, puzzles, arts and crafts, beauty gift sets and gift vouchers are all great options! Please remember, no clothing, food, used items or toy weapons.
Drop off a gift at my electorate office before Thursday 10 December. Together, we can help make Christmas a little brighter for families in need.
