Opinion – New hub for settlement services

By Member for Woodridge Cameron Dick

There are few things that make me prouder to represent Woodridge than the extraordinary diversity of our community.

Logan is home to people from hundreds of different cultural backgrounds, speaking different languages and bringing traditions and experiences from every corner of the world.

That multiculturalism isn’t just part of Logan’s identity; it is one of our greatest strengths.

That’s why I was so pleased to join the community to celebrate the official opening of the new SSI Logan Hub at Logan Central.

This fantastic new facility will bring together employment and training programs, community services, support for local entrepreneurs and spaces where people can learn, meet and connect.

Importantly, it is a place designed with the Logan community, for the Logan community.

I’m also incredibly proud the former Labor Government helped make this project possible.

Our government committed $6.75 million towards the hub through the Community Infrastructure Investment Partnership, working with Settlement Services International to turn the vision for this facility into reality.

We understood that investing in Logan meant investing not only in roads, hospitals and schools, but also in the community infrastructure that helps people find opportunity, build connections and take their next step.

Congratulations to SSI and everyone that helped bring this project to life.

I look forward to seeing this hub become a place of opportunity, belonging and connection for local Logan residents.
