Looking forward to Main St completion

I was saddened to read Main Street Mess in your last edition (MyCity Logan, 13-19 July).

I am a small business in Main Street where all the works are being done.

I have had total respect from both the construction crew and Logan City councillors.

I was visited twice prior to the works starting by the construction manager and the council representative. Which was fantastic.

I then started advising my regular customers of the works. I have had no drop in business thanks to my loyal and new customers for your ongoing support.

The construction/ demolition started around June 13. The crew have been nothing but supportive and helpful.

I asked the council for temporary rubbish bins which arrived promptly and secured. They have been emptied on a regular basis.

Rubber footpaths were installed quickly plus safety ramps where necessary.

On my way to work Monday morning I came through the traffic lights into Main Street and a bus had come up the wrong way (shame on the driver). He held his arm up to me as if I’d inconvenienced him.

Each day people drive the wrong way up the street.

Do not blame the construction crew please. They have the biggest signs up.

Also the road is quite narrow so really, come on drivers, take responsibility for your actions.

Get off your phones and read the signs. It’s not hard.

I am really excited for the completion of the works  but I’ll miss the crew of friendly workers.

Kindest Regards,
Denise
