Distillery Road rebuild to run through summer

Motorists face several months of roadworks as Logan City Council rebuilds a deteriorating section of Distillery Road.

The project will widen and resurface the road and reconstruct its base, with work expected to continue until mid-February 2027.

Access along Distillery Road is to be maintained throughout construction, although drivers will need to navigate a changing work area as crews move between stages.

The council’s project announcement says it will rebuild one side of the road at a time to limit disruption to residents, businesses and passing traffic.

“To minimise disruption to residents, businesses and motorists, construction will be delivered in stages, with one side of the road reconstructed at a time to maintain access along Distillery Road throughout the project,” it said in the project announcement.

The work goes beyond replacing the top layer of asphalt.

Rebuilding the road base will address the structure beneath the surface, alongside widening and a new road surface.

The council says the upgrade is intended to improve safety and driving conditions on the section, which has deteriorated over time.

Distillery Road is also home to visitor destinations including Distillery Road Market and Beenleigh Artisan Distillery, making access relevant to businesses as well as nearby households.

However, the brief announcement does not identify the precise limits of the work or individual driveways affected.

Construction will pause over Christmas and New Year, then resume in early January.

The mid-February completion target is subject to weather and construction conditions.

The council’s road-upgrade project page provides information on the Distillery Road rehabilitation.

Residents and businesses needing details about access to a particular property should check the project arrangements with the council.
