Cafe wins hearts, but closes its doors

A popular Marsden cafe which has won as many hearts as it has sold coffees is closing its doors today.

The Issa family has operated the cafe for the past three years at Marsden Park Shopping Centre, but will today serve its last coffee.

Frequent patrons of the cafe said the family had helped elderly people during Covid by delivering meals, and had always put the community at the heart of their business.

Neil Issa said he’d met a lot of nice people who he treated “like part of our family”.

“We want to thank everyone for their support,” he said. “The coffee machine broke down yesterday morning and people were leaving money on the table without us being able to give them a coffee.”

Mr Issa said a cup of coffee was a big thing.

“I’m proud in the sense that we’ve been able to change people’s lives by helping them think positive. People feel feel free that they can talk to you,” he said.

“In some instances I think we do a better job than the doctor.”
