Pictures of a kookaburra, a family café visit and two dogs exploring nature have earned three young New Beith artists prizes while delivering $4500 to community organisations.
Charles Broadhurst-Hill, 9, James Undery, 6, and Matilda Smith, 11, each received a $500 prize in Frasers Property Australia’s Round Mountain postcard competition.
Their selected charities received $1500 each, with $3000 going to Greenbank Cricket Club and $1500 to Women’s Legal Service Queensland.
Greenbank Cricket Club president Shane Harris said the club, which caters for up to 200 players, would use its share to strengthen its junior and female programs.
“We’re so grateful for this funding that will allow us to buy more equipment for our juniors and offer free registration for any girls who want to join the club to keep the female program growing in the area,” Mr Harris said.
“It all goes back into the community in one way or another, by bringing people together through sport and offering a place to make connections.”
Charles drew a kookaburra representing New Beith’s wildlife, James depicted an ice-cream and hot chocolate at ONO Café and Flowers, and Matilda portrayed her dogs on a nature walk.
Frasers Property Queensland general manager Scott Ullman said the entries highlighted the importance of family, nature and local landmarks.
“These are the themes we want to nurture as Round Mountain continues to take shape,” he said.
“They offer a useful guide not just in terms of the physical places we create, but also the kind of lifestyle and sense of belonging we want to support.”
Economic Development Queensland has approved 414 lots across two applications at Round Mountain, while Frasers’ broader 10-year masterplan proposes about 2100 homes.
The winning artworks are on display at the Round Mountain sales centre.
