A long-awaited $8 million community hub has been formally opened in Flagstone, more than five years after planning began for new services in one of Logan’s fastest-growing areas.
The Flagstone Parklands Community Hub at 51 Parklands Drive provides more than 1000sqm of internal and outdoor space for community groups, services, activities and small events.
Its formal opening marks the completion of a project first planned in 2020 and comes as Flagstone continues to expand rapidly.
Logan City Council’s community profile estimates the suburb had 8520 residents in 2025, compared with 7087 counted at the 2021 Census, while the wider Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area is expected to eventually accommodate 138,000 people.
Councillor representing Flagstone Natalie Willcocks said residents had been seeking more community space for years.
“For years residents have asked for a place like this and now it’s here, and it’s beautiful,” she said.
“Greater Flagstone will be home to 138,000 residents when fully developed, so we are making sure we are looking ahead to meet future needs.”
The council-owned hub includes meeting and multipurpose rooms, a dedicated maker space for creative activities and direct access to the Flagstone Adventure Playground.
Solar panels, bicycle facilities, accessible amenities and provision for future electric-vehicle charging are also included.
The building was designed by Fulton Trotter Architects and built by IQ Construct, with its design informed by earlier consultation with local residents and organisations.
First Nations artist Jessica Skeen created artwork for the front of the building exploring connections to Country, waterways and the area’s Traditional Custodians.
Logan mayor Jon Raven said the investment was aimed at ensuring infrastructure kept pace with Flagstone’s growth.
“This centre ensures local families have access to the facilities and services they need close to home,” he said.
“As Flagstone grows, we’re making sure community facilities grow with it.”
Beaucare, a not-for-profit organisation operating across Logan and the Scenic Rim since the 1980s, has been appointed to run the hub.
Its existing work includes family support, youth development, disability and older-person services and community-centre coordination.
General manager Louise Dyer said the new base would allow Beaucare to expand its work locally.
“Beaucare is excited to broaden our engagement with the Flagstone community and have a base for our existing services in this vibrant space,” she said.
The new hub will operate alongside Flagstone’s existing community centre at Trailblazer Drive, which is run by the South Moreton Presbytery and already hosts community groups and health and support services.
Logan City Council’s Flagstone immunisation clinic is due to relocate from Trailblazer Drive to the new Parklands hub from September 7.
The hub is open weekdays from 8am to 4pm.
