New playground for Brandon Park

Brandon Park’s new playground is expected to open soon, alongside a host of upgrades at the park.

The park, at Fairbairn Street at Marsden, is being improved as part of Logan City Council’s playground renewal project.

Crews have been busy finishing the installation of a new shaded play space designed for younger children after the removal of the park’s older playground equipment.

Progress on the upgrade recently accelerated following a series of rain delays that had previously slowed work at the site.

The upgraded facility features a variety of new equipment, including a play structure with a slide and new climbing elements.

A new swing set featuring an inclusive basket swing has also been installed to provide accessible play options for all children.

For sun safety, the entire play area is covered by large shade sails and features a mix of sand and rubber soft-fall surfaces.

Beyond the playground itself, the project includes significant improvements to park amenities for families and visitors.

The park’s existing barbecue has been relocated to a new covered area, which is complemented by a large shelter with accessible seating.

The upgraded space also includes a new drinking water fountain and a bin, as well as landscaping.

Pedestrian access has been improved through a new footpath connecting Glenbrae Court to the wider local walking path network.

To manage the flow of traffic and ensure safety, new bollards have been installed at the various footpath entrances.

While residents had suggested additional features such as bike paths and dog parks, the current design remains focused on the planned asset renewal.
