Yarrabilba Trail Fest is back again for 2026 on Sunday, 16 August.
With three different courses ranging in lengths from 5.1km, 11.4km and 18.2km, there is something for the whole family.
The courses are run across Plunkett Conservation Park, Wickham National Park and Wickham Timber Reserve
Erin McGufficke is marketing manager for Those Guys Events, the company running Trail Fest.
She said the event was all about showing the community the amazing trails Yarrabilba had to offer that most people do not know about.
Trail Fest is for all ages, but there are age limits on each course and all runners under 12 must be supervised.
The age breakdown for runners is spread across all age ranges. Last year there were 19 runners aged under 18 and seven runners in the 65–69-year-old category.
“It is really popular for 45-49-year-olds,” Ms McGufficke said.
“You don’t need to have any experience to come along.”
While the event is targeted at Yarrabila residents, people from across south-east Queensland are expected to head to Yarrabilba to experience the Yarrabilba trails.
“Brisbane and south-east Queensland have a fabulous trail running community,” Ms McGufficke said.
Last year’s event had 232 runners, with Ms McGufficke hoping for 250 this year.
All of this year’s runners will receive finish medals, something not seen in the past.
“This is the first year with medals, so we’re very excited for that,” Ms McGufficke said.
There will be trophies for those who place and also lucky draw prizes from Trail Fest’s sponsors at the end of the event.
Trail running involves running off road on unsealed terrain.
If runners want more trail running action, the SEQ Trail Running Series starts in October.
