Logan residents can create their own glowing lanterns to be displayed in a major birdlife exhibition at Logan Art Gallery.
The Night Jarring workshop will be held at the gallery at 2pm on Friday, June 12, giving participants the chance to make illuminated preservation-jar lanterns inspired by nocturnal birds.
The finished lanterns will be displayed at the gallery’s UPLATE event on Thursday, July 16, as part of Where do I belong?, before being returned to their makers.
Where do I belong? will run from June 19 to August 29, bringing together artists, environmental specialists, First Nations representatives, youth and people with disabilities from the Logan area.
The exhibition will explore Australian birds, the pressures facing native bird populations and the role locals can play in protecting them.
Workshop designs will be inspired by night birds including the White-throated Nightjar, Tawny Frogmouth and Bush Stone-curlew.
The workshop costs $10 and is listed for people aged 16 and older.
