Police target high-risk and DFV offenders in operation across Logan

Thirteen adults have been arrested and 36 charges laid during a Logan police operation targeting people considered a risk to domestic violence victim-survivors and the wider community.

Police said the May 27 operation focused on people wanted on warrants, alleged bail breach offenders and outstanding domestic and family violence-related matters.

The operation, known as Operation Yankee Atlas, saw officers execute 13 warrants across Logan as part of what police described as an early-intervention strategy to reduce further offending.

It was led by Logan’s Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit, with support from Tactical Crime Squad officers and local patrol divisions.

Police say the strategy is designed to create safer spaces for people experiencing violence, open more opportunities for victim-survivors to disclose abuse, and connect them with support.

Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles said the operation reinforced Logan District’s commitment to targeting high-risk offenders and protecting vulnerable people.

“No family should live in fear behind closed doors,” Acting Chief Superintendent Miles said.

“The Logan District remains committed to putting before the courts those individuals who seek to hurt those closest to them.

“Operations such as Yankee Atlas are about identifying and targeting high-risk offenders, disrupting cycles of violence, and ensuring victim-survivors know police will continue to take decisive action to keep the community safe.”

Among those charged was an 18-year-old Loganlea man, who was charged with seven counts of stealing and one count of trespass.

A 32-year-old Underwood woman was charged with two counts of wilful damage and one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both are due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 18 June.

A 42-year-old Springwood man was charged with three counts of serious assault of persons over 60.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 26 June.

A 46-year-old Beenleigh man was charged with one count each of contravention of a domestic violence order, receiving tainted property, possessing dangerous drugs and committing public nuisance.

He is due to reappear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 10 July.

A 38-year-old Rochedale South man was charged with three counts of contravening a domestic violence order, one count of wilful damage as a domestic violence offence and one count of common assault as a domestic violence offence.

He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 3 July.

Police continue to urge anyone experiencing domestic and family violence to seek support and report offending behaviour.
