Yarrabilba is lining up to dance

Line dancing is gaining popularity in Yarrabilba with weekly classes growing in size.

HT Line Dancing has classes in Yarrabilba and Jimboomba, with their Tuesday night class at Yarrabilba State Secondary College run by instructor Hayley becoming a community favourite.

Classes have been in Yarrabilba for about two to three, and HT Line Dancing is looking at expanding into surrounding suburbs.

Tamara Quinn, one instructor from HT Line Dancing, said the classes were a very casual situation, with people coming and going as they pleased each week.

The size of the class varies, but Ms Quinn said they had 40 people there at one stage.

People of all ages attend, with the classes starting off with beginner dances and then move towards harder dances as the class progresses.

The line dancing classes are family friendly, and Ms Quinn encourages attendees to bring others along.

Ms Quinn has been teaching line dancing classes for a year but began line dancing a number of years ago with her friends as a social activity.

“When I first started there was a lot of stigma, it was an old person thing,”  Ms Quinn said.

With line dancing finding homes all across Queensland, the community is getting bigger and Ms Quinn said she would love to see more children get involved.

In May, HT Line Dancing did its first gig at the Flagstone Tavern and saw an overwhelming amount of support and are planning to hold more.

HT Line Dancing are also available for private events, birthdays and weddings.
