Residents are being invited to help restore bushland and maintain community trails through upcoming BushCare and TrailCare sessions across the city.
Logan City Council says its BushCare program has been active since 1998, with volunteers working to restore and protect conservation areas.
The program focuses on weed control, planting new habitats, native plant propagation and observing local flora and fauna.
Volunteers also learn about native species identification, environmental restoration, weed eradication, water monitoring and community engagement.
BushCare sessions listed by the council include Brookvale Drive, Underwood, on Wednesday, 27 May and Wednesday, 24 June, Berrinba Wetlands on Sunday, 7 June, Eagleby Wetlands on Sunday, 7 June, Garragoolba at Greenbank on Sunday, 24 May and Sunday, 28 June, and Springwood Conservation Park on Tuesday, 9 June.
The council’s TrailCare program is also seeking volunteers, with upcoming sessions listed for Cornubia Forest Park on Saturday, 6 June, Saturday, 20 June, Saturday, 4 July and later dates.
Spring Mountain TrailCare at Greenbank is also listed for Saturday, 23 May and Saturday, 20 June.
The council says TrailCare focuses on maintaining and improving trail resilience and user enjoyment, while increasing the environmental sustainability of conservation areas.
The program supports trail maintenance and improvement, erosion control, weed management and educating trail users.
The BushCare and TrailCare sessions are free, with volunteer application forms available through Logan City Council.
