Bayanihan Festival returns to Kingston

The Bayanihan Festival will return to Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct next month, bringing Filipino culture, food, performance and community celebration to Logan.

The free festival is hosted by the Filipino Australian Brisbane Society and will be held on Saturday 13 June at the Kingston venue, with no bookings required.

Festival organiser Dixie Morante says the Bayanihan Festival reflects the Filipino tradition of bayanihan — helping one another to achieve a shared goal.

“The Bayanihan Festival is a vibrant and meaningful celebration that brings the Logan community together through culture, connection and shared values,” Ms Morante said.

“At its heart, the festival reflects the true spirit of bayanihan — the Filipino tradition of helping one another to achieve a unified goal — which resonates strongly within Logan’s diverse and inclusive community.

“It provides an opportunity for residents from all backgrounds to come together, fostering unity, understanding and pride in our multicultural identity,” she said.

Visitors can expect cultural and contemporary performances, Filipino and international food from local and regional businesses, interactive activities and showcases from local businesses and community groups.

Ms Morante said a special highlight for 2026 would be a live performance by Filipino rhythm and blues artist JayR.

She said previous festivals had drawn thousands of attendees, including more than 8000 people in challenging weather.

“The community festival parade has been a standout feature, showcasing the contributions of Filipino organisations and celebrating their impact across social, cultural, business, and community sectors,” Ms Morante said.

“For the wider Logan community, the Bayanihan Festival is more than an event — it is a celebration of diversity, resilience, and shared belonging,” she said.

“It highlights how cultural traditions can strengthen community ties, support local businesses, and create lasting connections across generations.”
