Construction begins on 141 home development in Chambers Flat

Work has begun on a $150 million housing development in Logan’s south, with officials marking the milestone at Chambers Flat last week.

Logan City Council Mayor Jon Raven joined Ausbuild senior development manager Aaron Delaney for a sod-turning ceremony on Friday, 24 April, at the Somerset Chambers Flat site.

The development spans multiple parcels along Holloway Road, Sungold Road and Andrews Court.

The project is expected to deliver 141 homes across 13.9 hectares, in an area experiencing rapid population growth.

Chambers Flat’s population has grown by more than 83 per cent since the 2021 Census and Cr Raven said developments such as this one would help keep up with demand for housing.

“Logan is Queensland’s youngest and fastest-growing city, with more than 280 people choosing to call our region home every single week,” Cr Raven said.

“Family-friendly developments like Somerset Chambers Flat help us meet that demand. It’s great to see this investment in Logan.”

Mr Delaney said the project had been designed with families in mind and would include homes on lots ranging from about 409 to 970 square metres, with house and land packages starting from $1million.

“It has been designed with generous 400 square metre-plus blocks with wider frontages and room for double-storey designs in a thoughtfully master planned community,” Mr Delaney said.

The first stage of construction has officially begun, with works including earthworks, stormwater infrastructure, electrical upgrades and the delivery of a public park.

Mr Delaney said the one-hectare park would include open green space and recreational facilities.

“We know that the best communities are built around the spaces where families and neighbours can come together,” he said.

Ausbuild indicated that supporting infrastructure delivered as part of the project would also service surrounding areas as development across the southern corridor continued.
