Student musicians will showcase their talents at the Beenleigh Beats music night.
The annual event is organised by student volunteers from the Beenleigh Yatala Junior Chamber of Commerce to showcase and promote secondary student performers and entrepreneurs from a range of Logan and Gold Coast schools.
Beenleigh Yatala Junior Chamber of Commerce president Olivia Morony said the event had been running for five years now.
“It’s a free family event that promotes and showcases the arts and music programs of a bunch of local schools,” she said.
“In the past years we have had live bands perform, single acts, artists and even dancers.
“It will also showcase the Young Business Leaders program, who will display their business ideas through stalls, and they get to keep the profits from their sales.”
The event will also feature food trucks, face painting and a range of market stalls to browse.
Olivia said it was great to see students come together from all different walks of life to share their amazing talents and ideas.
“It’s cool to see the community come together to celebrate young artists and performers and future business leaders,” she said.
“There is a lot going on in the world right now and to get in and support our schools and young talents and leaders, it’s a really beautiful thing to see.”
Olivia said there would also be raffles on the night, with proceeds going to a good cause.
“We will have a range of raffles during the event and the proceeds from that will go towards a charity that we will pick at the end of the year,” she said.
Beenleigh Beats will be held from 3pm to 7pm on Saturday, 30 May at Beenleigh Town Square, 1 Kent Street, Beenleigh.
