A teenage girl has been charged over a string of alleged attempted armed robberies at a Springwood gym late on Sunday, 19 April.
Police say the incidents unfolded between about 11.50pm and midnight inside a fitness centre on Cinderella Drive, where it’s alleged two teenage girls approached several people and demanded their car keys while making threats.
Officers allege the first victim, a 30-year-old man who was exercising, was confronted by the pair, who yelled at him to hand over his keys and tried to search his clothing.
He managed to leave the gym and was not physically injured.
A second man, 22, went to help after hearing the disturbance.
Police allege the two females threatened him, claiming they were armed with a knife and a firearm, while demanding his keys.
He also left the gym without injury.
Two more people, including a woman, 19, and a man, 22, who approached the situation, were allegedly threatened in a similar way before leaving.
A fifth person, a man, 23, was also allegedly approached and threatened for his car keys.
Police attended the scene and located two females nearby, taking them into custody.
It will be alleged that car keys belonging to one of the victims were found a short distance away after being dropped as the pair tried to leave.
An Ormeau girl, 15, has been charged with four counts of attempted armed robbery in company using personal violence, and one count of armed robbery in company using personal violence.
She was expected to appear in Beenleigh Children’s Court yesterday, Monday, 20 April.
A Tweed Heads girl, 16, has also been arrested in relation to the alleged offences, with investigations ongoing.
