Fuel prices
The petrol pump is piling financial pressure at a time where there is already cost of living pressures.
Whether it is getting to work or dropping the kids at school, every trip adds up and Queenslanders are struggling to afford to fill up at the bowser.
So, Labor’s making every litre of petrol and diesel cheaper through to June 30.
The fuel tax will be halved for three months to save you money when you fill up.
Although Anthony Albanese and Federal Labor are taking action to address transport affordability, David Crisafulli and the LNP have done nothing to address fuel costs or force price transparency.
In addition to the Federal Government halving the fuel excise, Queensland Labor has a plan before the parliament to make transport more affordable by capping fuel price rises to five cents a day and making fuel retailers publish prices at 2pm the day before, enabling more informed decision making by Queenslanders.
Prawn Day
Prawn Day is a permanent fixture in the Macalister calendar, much like it is for many community and small business owners.
This year was extra special as it marked 30 years of Prawn Day.
Prawn Day isn’t just about indulging in the freshest local prawns, is it also an opportunity to support charities.
This year $21,000 was raised for City of Logan Charitable Trust, Sewing for Charity Australia, Formally Ever After Qld Inc and the Chamber Young Business Leaders.
Organisers said the 2026 event would be one for the history books and it was.
Thank you to Distillery Road Markets and Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce for hosting such an iconic celebration and providing Beenleigh State High School and Windaroo Valley State High School students with an opportunity to deliver an excellent dining experience.
