Logan police have fined four motorbike riders who they allege were driving more than 60km/h above the speed limit on Tamborine Mountain Road, Tamborine.
Police said they detected the riders travelling at 146km/h on the road, which has a speed limit of 80km/h.
Three riders, a Mermaid Waters man, 37, a Southport man, 38, and a Runaway Bay man, 19, were issued with speeding fines of $1919 each and individually had their licences suspended for six months.
Police charged the fourth rider, a 42-year-old Robina man, with one count of driving without a licence and another for speeding.
Police allege the Robina man has never held a motorbike licence. He is expected to appear before the Beaudesert Magistrates Court on 14 April.
Acting Inspector Geoff Douglas said speeding at more than 60km/h above the legal limit was extremely dangerous and put everyone using the road at risk.
“Speeding at this level not only puts the rider at risk but also endangers other motorists and the broader community,” he said.
“Police will not tolerate this type of behaviour and our officers are out on these roads to prevent tragedies before they occur.
“These roads are popular with motorcyclists, but riders need to take responsibility for their actions and ride to the conditions.”
Mr Douglas said police would continue “high-visibility patrols” and enforce road rules across the area.
