Logan Hospital is on the hunt for Logan artists, as they look for ways to brighten up their new seven-level building set to be completed in 2027.
As part of their expansion project opportunities, the hospital is asking local artists to register their interest in submitting artwork by Wednesday, 11 March.
Once they receive all artwork applications the hospital will commission the artworks they see fit to decorate their newest building.
Logan Hospital spokesperson said the artworks will be displayed in different formats including wall decals, framed prints and canvases on walls, throughout the seven-level building.
“The Logan Hospital expansion is one of the largest health projects in Queensland and we want your art to be part of it,” they said.
“Artworks will be featured in public and clinical spaces such as waiting areas, family lounges, staff stations, hallways, corridors and children’s play areas,”
Logan Hospital’s expansion project started in 2020 with many of the upgrades – including four new floors to the emergency department, new maternity and surgical wards and a new imaging unit – already completed.
The newest stage will see an additional of 112 additional beds, new operating theatres, new endoscopy rooms, chemotherapy spaces and an expanded pharmacy – all to completed by late 2027.
Logan Hospital spokesperson said the artwork opportunity is open to all artists and collectives with a connection to Logan.
Artists “must show a connection to Logan; family, heritage, residence, cultural or community ties,” they said.
Artists also must be “ready to develop concepts and collaborate with project teams.”
During the application process artists will also have to provide a short blurb about themselves and their connection to Logan, as well as examples of their previous works.
Register your interest by 2pm Wednesday 11 March. For more info visit www.metrosouth.health.qld.gov.au
