Police charge two men with alleged vehicle theft

An Inala man, 25, was charged with eight offences following multiple alleged car thefts on 30 December, police said.

Police charged the Inala man with car theft, attempted car theft, and trespassing.

Police also arrested an Acacia Ridge man, 21, on similar charges and said they expected to lay more charges.

Police allege that at 11am on 30 December, air operations tracked three cars they allege were stolenfrom homes in Sherwood and Sinnamon Park, including a silver BMW, white Toyota Camry, and blue Mercedes.

At 11.45am police found the BMW and Toyota at Monier Road and Ashridge Road addresses in Darra.

Police allege the men stole a black GWM from Alpine Crescent in Chambers Flat at 2.40pm that day, before abandoning it in Park Ridge and continuing to drive the Mercedes north on the Pacific Motorway to Brisbane City.

Police apprehended the Inala man, who they allege was driving the Mercedes, at 4pm on Ipswich Road, Woolloongabba.

Police allege the Acacia Ridge man fled the Mercedes on foot and hid on the roof of a Moosgrove Street, Woolloongabba home for three hours before he surrendered to police.

Both men were expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court in January.

Police said their investigations were ongoing.
