Giving season has continued into January for a local Logan woman who won the top prize of $100,000 from an instant scratch-it ticket that she purchased in Mount Ommaney.
The winner told officials from The Lott that she received the ticket as a Christmas present, but hadn’t scratched or looked at the ticket until 6 January.
“I hadn’t scratched it until the other day, so it had just been sitting there,” she said.
“It was pretty crazy. I didn’t know I’d won at first, and then when I realised, I just went ‘Oh my gosh!’.
“I don’t think I’ll ever receive a better Christmas present in my life!”
She told The Lott she planned to save her winnings and give some of it to her family to help them out.
“I just plan to save it and set myself up,” she said. “I’ll also give some money to my family and help them out.
“I’m just so grateful.”
The ticket, a $5 Merry Christmas instant scratch-it, from Nextra Mount Ommaney News at Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre.
