UPDATED: Police issue arrest warrant for man, after woman dies in Buccan

Logan Detectives have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Buccan man, 36, whose carer, a 46-year-old woman, was allegedly found dead at his property on Monday.

The warrant would be for murder, police said.

The man is currently in New South Wales police custody, facing unrelated traffic charges, police said.

Queensland police said they would seek his extradition back to Queensland once court proceedings in NSW had been completed, sometime after his sentencing date, on 25 February.

In a statement, Queensland police said, “The arrest warrant against the man is for the offence of murder, in relation to the death of the 46-year-old Ashgrove woman.”

Police in NSW arrested the man for traffic offences in Kempsey, NSW, 465km south of his residence, at around 2pm on Monday, 12 January.

Earlier that day, at around 2.30am, police carried out a welfare check at the man’s residence on Waterford Tamborine Road in Buccan.

Police were investigating a missing person report filed at 1am, for a 46-year-old woman from Ashgrove whose family said they hadn’t seen her since 7pm on Saturday, 10 January.

The woman was found dead on the property’s rear deck, acting detective inspector of QPS’s Logan district, Justin Anderson, said.

The woman’s cause of death is yet to be determined, but police said she had sustained multiple injuries.

Police said their investigations into the matter were ongoing and encouraged the public to come forward with relevant dashcam footage.

Including footage which captures cars that travelled east along Acton Street towards Waterford-Tamborine Road at Buccan from 7.30pm on Saturday, 10 January to 2.30pm on Sunday, 11 January
