Updated: Emergency declaration revoked in Marsden

Police have revoked an emergency declaration that told Marsden residents near Maple Street, where there were reports of an armed person, to stay indoors.

The emergency declaration was called just after 10am this morning (12 December), and remained in place for Oregan Street, Hickory Street, Chambers Flat Road, Bunya Street, and Birch Street until 12.30pm.

Police said that at around 8.30am this morning, officers were called to a Maple Street address for an unrelated incident, when an officer saw a person with a gun inside a property.

Officers helped evacuate three people from the property, but believed one person with a gun remained inside.

Due to their concerns for the public’s safety, police made the emergency declaration for the surrounding streets.

Police said three people from the Maple Street property were assisting them in their inquiries and encouraged anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
