Roundtable aims to lure more investment

AN investor roundtable at Underwood last week would aim to attract more major private sector projects and jobs to communities like Logan.

Held at the headquarters of global online learning and education provider Go1 – and local success story – the meeting was hosted by the state government with intent to discuss how government and industry can collaborate to generate job-creating investment.

“Logan is now a genuine economic powerhouse for Queensland, with the number of large businesses employing more than 200 staff increasing by 50 per cent in our region since 2013,” treasurer and member for Woodridge Cameron Dick said.

“This is the latest in a series of roundtable sessions we’ve held across Queensland to identify growth opportunities for jobs and businesses.

“As minister for investment I’m always keen to talk directly with industry about the ways government can partner with them and help turn private investment into more jobs here in Queensland.

“During the pandemic we’ve worked with great local businesses like Evolve Group, MCP Australia and Imaging Solutions, helping them to pivot, employ and grow, and we want to keep creating new jobs for Logan.”

Mr Dick said events such as the roundtable were fueling the local post-Covid economic recovery.

Go1 co-founder and chief evangelist Vu Tran said: Go1 is a proudly Queensland founded and headquartered global education technology company.

“Our business has had the opportunity to grow during a time of unprecedented investment by the Queensland Government into our state’s innovation ecosystem by our participation in the Business Development Fund and through Ignite Ideas grants.

“Despite having a team of over 200 staff globally across 10 offices, Go1 still continues to call Queensland home, supporting ongoing job and value creation in our home state.”
