Two in hospital after alleged assault with weapon, Loganlea

A Loganlea man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after allegedly hospitalising two people “with a weapon”.

Police said in a statement that officers were called to Haig Street, Loganlea at around 7.30pm on 18 September following reports of a disturbance.

“It will be alleged, a 57-year-old Loganlea man has threatened a 40-year-old Loganlea man and a 52-year-old Loganlea woman with a weapon, resulting in injuries,” the statement read.

Police did not provide any details about the weapon. 

Media reports, however, allege the man was “wielding a tomahawk”.

Paramedics said they treated three people at the scene.

The 40-year-old man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with an injured head and arm, and the 52-year-old woman was taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition with an injured arm.

Paramedics said the man in his 50s was injured in the arm and leg, and was taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.

Police said he was charged with two counts of acts intended to cause GBH or transmit serious disease.
