Mother’s Day market brings joy to Arcare

Arcare Parkinson was abuzz with excitement and warmth on Thursday May 2, as residents and community members came together for the annual Mother’s Day market.

The event, a cherished tradition at Arcare Parkinson, saw residents proudly manning stalls adorned with their handcrafted creations, meticulously prepared during the weekly craft group sessions.

Among them was Annie, whose stall showcased an array of her own craft items, each brimming with love and care.

But the festivities weren’t confined to the residents alone; the entire community rallied around the occasion.

Local residents poured in to browse and purchase from the stalls, staying on for coffee and convivial conversations. Family members generously donated items for sale, ensuring that every visitor had something special to take home.

Volunteers, like Gill, who has dedicated seven years of her life to Arcare Parkinson, lent their unwavering support, overseeing sales and relishing every moment of the day.

“No one goes home empty-handed,” said Gill.

“Even those who don’t make a purchase are gifted a token of appreciation, ensuring that everyone leaves with a smile.”

The spirit of generosity extended beyond the market stalls with residents gathering to deliberate on how to utilise the funds raised during the event.

In the past, these funds have been channelled towards meaningful endeavours, such as the creation of a memorial plaque and plant in honour of a beloved past resident, or the acquisition of a garden workbench for communal use.

As laughter echoed through the halls and friendships were forged anew, the Mother’s Day market at Arcare Parkinson served as a poignant reminder of the enduring bonds of love and connection that unite us all, regardless of age or circumstance.
