Seriously people, if it’s flooded forget it

A large number of people were seen recently entering or driving through flooded roads, many unsuccessfully.

Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh of Jimboomba Police Station cautioned against taking on flooded roads.

“It doesn’t matter it they appear shallow, non-moving or if everyone else is doing it,” he said.

“There are hidden dangers that make flood waters unpredictable and they should be avoided.

“We were in a situation again where very heavy downfalls of rain are occurring in very short periods of time, which is leading to dangerous situations arising very suddenly.

“We all have a responsibility to make good decisions on the road to keep other drivers and ourselves safe.”

Areas of Logan during recent floods had to be evacuated due to landslide risk, and even police officers were cut off from support for a number of days.

Police are reminding people that rural areas like Jimboomba can be prone to flooding and road closures and please think how your decision to ignore flooding and road closed signs may affect others too.

Drivers or persons who disobey posted signs may also be liable to receive infringement notices from $160.
