Logan Iftar brings faith communities together

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Queensland is hosting an interfaith Iftar in Logan during Ramadan, inviting people of all faiths to share in an evening of reflection and dialogue.

The event, which takes place Sunday, 23 March, aims to foster unity and understanding among different religious communities, including Jewish, Christian, Hindu, and Muslim groups.

It will provide an opportunity for attendees to experience a Ramadan evening in a mosque and engage in discussions promoting mutual respect.

Imam Mohammad Atae Rabbi Hadi of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Queensland said the gathering is particularly important in times of division and uncertainty.

“Now, more than ever, there is a need for people to come together,” he said.

“We must showcase this unity in mainstream media to promote positive relations, brotherhood, equality, loyalty, and friendship.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community follows the teachings of its founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, who advocated for peace and interfaith harmony.

The community’s mission includes promoting dialogue and reducing religious conflict.

The event will feature speakers from various faith groups, including a representative from the Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies, Reverend David Baker from Churches Together, and Umesh Chandra representing the Hindu faith.

Imam Atae Rabbi Hadi will also speak on behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.

Attendees will have the chance to participate in discussions and share a meal as part of the Iftar, the traditional breaking of the fast observed during Ramadan.

The event is open to all community members interested in learning about different faiths and fostering positive connections.
