Floods recede across Logan, some roads still closed

As floodwaters recede across Logan, some roads and parks remain closed while council crews assess damage.

Logan City Council warns that some roads may still be hazardous due to erosion.

Signs remain in place for safety, even if water is no longer visible.

“If a flooded road sign, road closed sign or barricade is still up, please do not drive over the road,” a council statement said.

“These roads still require assessment and may collapse due to erosion underneath them.

The signs are up to keep you and your car safe.”

The Albert River reached major flood levels on the morning of 10 March where warnings were issued for Tamborine, Cedar Creek, Windaroo, and Eagleby.

The Beenleigh Station suffered significant damage due to the major Albert River flood, which forced Queensland Rail to close the station.

“Our teams are committed to restoring the network safely and are repairing it as conditions allow,” a statement said.

The Logan River also peaked at moderate flood levels, with Maclean Bridge reaching 15.20 metres, Waterford at 7.50 metres, and Parklands at 4.40 metres.

The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed minor flooding has ceased at Maclean Bridge, Waterford, and Parklands, with no further flooding expected in the Logan River to Yarrahappini.

Several parks and trails also remain closed due to the heavy rainfall.

This includes Olivers Sports Complex, Alexander Clark Park, Riverdale Park, Logan River Parklands, Boronia Bushland Reserve, Crestmead Park, Underwood Park, Springwood Environmental Park, Hugh Muntz Park, and Gould Adams Park.
