Three men, including one that died at Logan Hospital due to a brain injury, were allegedly kidnapped and tortured during an armed robbery this month.
So far, two men have been charged.
Police allege three friends met up with a group of other men – who police believe were known to the friends – at Rudyard Street in Richlands on 8 January.
According to Logan detective inspector Chris Knight, the three men were subsequently kidnapped – “against their will and under the threat of extreme violence”.
“They were taken to another location where they were subject to more violence over a number of hours before being returned to their vehicle [at Richlands],” Mr Knight said.
Their injuries included bruising and lacerations.
One man suffered a broken leg and another serious facial injuries.
The third man, 52, suffered brain damage and was taken to Logan Hospital hours later, police say.
“Unfortunately, he died within 24 hours of medical treatment,” Mr Knight said.
“By the time we received notification of the injuries, we have not had the opportunity to speak with him.”
Mr Knight said investigations into the incident, led by a team of around 30 local detectives, was large and would continue.
So far, he said detectives did not believe the alleged attack was a “random event”, rather a “coordinated effort to extort and rob” the men, likely for money.
On 10 January, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home in Griffin.
He was charged with one count each of murder, grievous bodily harm and armed robbery, and two counts each of torture and kidnapping.
Six days later, a 32-year-old Griffin man was charged with the same offences following a search warrant executed at a business in Wacol on 12 January.
Logan detectives have released images of a car of interest, a silver Jaguar sedan.

A RAV4 belonging to the victim was recovered by the police with the help of the community.
Authorities continue to appeal for anyone with dashcam footage, particularly along Government Road at Richlands between Archerfield Road and Forest Lake Boulevard, between 6.15pm and 6.45pm on Sunday 5 January.
