Oh, what a feeling – Toyota is charging into Logan with a parts warehouse expected to be triple the size of its current facility.
Mayor Jon Raven said the move by Australia’s biggest car dealer to settle in Logan was “a boom for the area”.
Toyota Manager Oliver Salvana agreed the move to Queensland’s fastest growing city
“made sense”.
“Strategically we chose Logan for its location – from people’s perspective it’s a great move,” Mr Salvana said
“And for transport, logistics and supporting our dealer network, it’s very central.
“It’s a growth area too.”
Cr Raven said Logan was the “beating heart” of south-east Queensland.
“You can’t move people or products throughout this region without coming through our city so that’s why we’re the smart choice for businesses to base themselves here,” he said.
“We also know that when you relocate 90 staff here that many of those people will want to come and live in Logan.
“We’re building 5000 new homes in Logan every year – we want you to be part of it.”
Works have already started on the 31,000sqm new parts distribution centre at Crestmead.
The facility, located on a 60,000ha site, will relocate 90 jobs to the area and is anticipated to open in 2026.
Logan City council said they helped fast-track the development approval process, to enable construction to start early.
The new facility will achieve 100 per cent carbon neutral operations with solar panels, a hydrogen refueller and EV charging.
Toyota said its improved safety standards and next generation technology would support a more “streamlined goods to person process” and provide greater and more inclusive employment opportunities.
“Thank you so much to Toyota for making the smart investment decision to come to Logan,” Cr Raven said.
“We’re excited to be a partner with Toyota and to talk about how great it is to have them here.”
Cr Raven joined representatives from Toyota, partner Goodman and the De Luca construction corporation for an official Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony at the development site this week.
