Man killed, others injured in South Maclean crash

A 60-year-old man from Advancetown has died following a crash at South Maclean on Monday.

Police confirmed today the man was declared deceased at the scene of the crash, which occured just after 2pm along Stockleigh Road at the intersection of Flynn Road.

Two others, a 39-year-old woman and her 29-year-old female passenger, were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say investigations are ongoing, and they are appealing to witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV from the area to come forward.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), the 29-year-old woman suffered from back and abdominal pain, while the 39-year-old suffered from shoulder and pelvis injuries.

On Monday, a QAS spokesperson said both women’s injuries were “life-threatening”; however, police have since confirmed they were not.

The spokesperson also said one of the women would need to be air-lifted to a nearby hospital.

A Queensland Fire Department (QFD) spokesperson said one person was trapped in a car and needed to be extricated.

He said at around 3.15pm that one fire crew remained on scene cleaning up what appeared to be an oil spill.

Initial reports claimed one of the cars involved in the crash was on fire, but the QFD spokesperson confirmed this was not the case.
