“For us, it’s personal.”
Sounds like your typical tagline doesn’t it?
But for the passionate team at Home Instead who deliver high-quality personalised in-home support for Seniors in Logan, the Scenic Rim, Redlands and the adjacent Islands, these four words are quite simply a statement of fact.
Says Business Operations Manager, Susan Chatham: “To us it really is personal, and our team live and breathe these words every day. We pride ourselves on the quality of our people and the services we provide, and work tirelessly to ensure our Clients and their families get the very best of care.”
Around 11 years ago and with a passion for helping older Australians, Vicky & Aaron Meyers started Home Instead in the Redlands area, knowing that there was a growing need for in-home support and services for Seniors in their community.
Roll the clock forward, and Home Instead now employs almost 200 Care Givers who deliver services in the homes of almost 400 clients, and an office team of around 25 who make sure those services are delivered 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
Susan goes on to say: “One of our strengths is the fact that we are local – our care team live and work in the areas where our clients live, so we’re part of the fabric of the community. Not only that, we can respond quickly when the needs of our clients change – even if that’s in the middle of the night.”
Of Home Instead’s community initiatives, Business Development Manager Allison Brawn says: “Our recent Easter BABTAS initiative – for those who don’t know, that’s Be a Bunny To a Senior – saw the delivery to hundreds of Meals on Wheels clients an Easter card that had been coloured in by local primary school students. Sadly for these people, the Meals on Wheels volunteers are sometimes the only people they see throughout the week, so these precious cards are of immense value, and for us at Home Instead it’s one of the most rewarding things we do.”
With an ever-increasing need for My Aged Care packages, another recently added community initiative is free fortnightly “Navigating In-Home Care” information sessions where people can drop in and chat with a Senior Care Advisor who can answer all of their questions about My Aged Care and the process involved in getting support.
Community Networker Anne-Louise Underwood explained: “Most people have trouble navigating the complexities of My Aged Care. What these sessions mean is that anyone can just pop in without an appointment and without feeling any obligation. It’s part of our commitment to the community, and we’re glad to help our Seniors to get the support they need.”
