Kimberley College’s 2024 leadership council

Kimberley College at Carbrook is pleased to announce its Senior Student Council Executive for 2024 – Ronak Ashara, Ella Reece, Ash Hartikainen and Brockie Wilson.

These students are well respected by teachers and peers alike and have consistently demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the college values of Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, Creativity, Health, and Wellbeing.

“I want to be able to create spaces for people where they can ask questions of the school and for students to feel like they have a say on what and who their school wants to be, for inclusiveness throughout the school,” Brockie said.

Ella agreed: “My vision this year is for the senior student executive council to be visible and involved with the community, somewhere students feel they can come to with their ideas, contributions and even their grievances.

“I want our legacy to be the executives who did it all, to get the entire school involved; organise more fun for the whole school; and charity events, to set student plans in motion.”

At the end of term one, the student council executives organised and hosted their first whole of school charity event for the Leukaemia Foundation, partaking in the World’s Greatest Shave.

This included all the event planning, leading and allocating tasks on the day, securing volunteer hairdressers/barbers, and coordinating the KC Kookaburras – students who bravely volunteered to shave for a cure.

Ash said: “I want to make my school a better place for younger students and to encourage and remind them to find ways to help others, even if it’s something that doesn’t concern them.”

Ash is also keen to set up a group that that teaches students how to crochet and knit, so that we can make blankets, jumpers and other clothes for homeless people and people going through challenging times.

Ash has future post-school plans to study a degree in fashion design and/or business so that she can start her own socially responsible clothing business that helps homeless people.

Ella initially applied for the role of Senior Student Council Executive, primarily because she wanted to challenge herself.

“I have always been someone more on the sidelines in terms of school spirit, and I found myself wanting to step up get involved in the school community.”

In addition to her role on the Executive, Ella participates in the Bond University National High School Mooting Competition as one of the Kimberley College team members and hopes to pursue a legal degree in the future

With such enthusiastic students, the school looks forward to eagerly watching the year ahead at Kimberley College.

Conveniently located with easy access to both the Logan and Redland Bay communities and nestled in a picturesque, semi-rural setting, Kimberley College at Carbrook is a co-educational, non-denominational independent school.

Catering for Prep to year 12, the college is committed to delivering high quality and contemporary education that supports and aligns with their values driven approach.
