Free trees

Local property owners can pick up a free tree package from Logan Village State School on Saturday 9 March. All property owners in the City of Logan are welcome to one Free Trees Pack per property, per financial year. There are a variety of plants for to choose from, including: foliage, hedge, ground-cover, flower and native. The handout starts at 9:00am to noon. You must bring a current original rates notice as proof of eligibility.

Meet the mayors

As the local government election approaches, it’s important to know who our candidates are. Here is your opportunity to meet the city’s mayoral candidates and ask them the burning questions to help you make your decision on 16 March. Logan Village Lions Club will be selling a sausage sizzle and drinks on the day. Visit the Logan Regional Chamber of Commerce Facebook page to RSVP. The event is on Saturday 2 March.

Repair cafe

Those needing a button sewn on, a guitar restrung, a knife sharpened or a computer repaired can head to the Repair Cafe Beenleigh on Saturday 3 March, from 1-4pm. This walk-in, volunteer-run service aims to eliminate waste. You can bring in your broken items to the cafe and learn how to repair them. This can be anything from clothes to furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, or toys. The cafe is located at the Beenleigh Neighbourhood Centre.

DRM

Distillery Road Market’s Sundays in the Market Hall is on 3 March from 8am to 1pm. The market showcases food growers, small-batch producers and artisans from the local area.You can find a mix of fresh produce growers, small goods, baked treats, spices, preserves, jams, honey and chutneys, artisan makers showcasing jewellery, pet products, children’s products, homewares, plants, candles, crystals and more.

Clean up day

Logan’s Clean Up Australia Day event is on at Gould Adams Park in Kingston, Sunday 3 March. Disposable gloves, bags and hi-vis vests for the cleanup will be provided. But participants are asked to bring water bottles, sunscreen, sun hats and wear closed shoes. The event is free, but registration is required at: lccqld.com/logan-community-clean-up-registration. The event will run from 9am to 12pm.
