Local ghost busters are hunting down Logan’s spookiest spots, and they’ve already found a few ghosts.
Transcendental Paranormal is a newly formed group of “ghost hunters” that hosts spooky tours around haunted Logan locations.
“We are a team of passionate investigators, and our interests are diving into the supernatural realms,” founder Tiana Bird said.
“We have cutting edge equipment, and we also have a love for history.
“We like to put those passions together and as a result we started to explore haunted locations in Logan and the history behind them.”
So far Ms Bird has led investigations at local cemeteries and at the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum.
“We look for places that give us the most eerie feelings,” she said.
When conducting an investigation, there are a few essentials – cameras and recording devices, and ghost-tracking equipment.
“We have K2 meters that read the electro-magnetic areas and backwards sweeping radio boxes that we call spirit boxes,” Ms Bird said.
“Spirit boxes” are essentially radios that can scan multiple stations at once.
Some people believe ghosts and spirits communicate using radio frequencies.
Ms Bird said a spirit box enabled people to hear what ghosts are saying.
“Our favourite tool is probably the spirit box because we sometimes have words come through,” she said.
“Particularly names, which we can then verify using the history we know.”
Ms Bird said the group had some “really good results” at their Beenleigh Historical Village investigation.
“We were inside an old dance hall that had be converted to look like a museum,” she said.
“When we walked in, it was pitch black and we couldn’t see anything, but the spirit box immediately started to ring a vintage phone.
“We didn’t know what that meant, but when we turned the lights on, all the old display phones that were disconnected started to ring.”
Transcendental Paranormal also investigated an old church at Jimboomba, but Ms Bird said the results weren’t as promising.
“We first want to debunk our theories before we put it down to the paranormal,” she said.
“If a light goes out, or if we hear floorboards creaking, we’ll look around to see why.”
She said she believes in both negative and positive spirits.
“I’ve only come across a handful of negative energies in the past couple of years,” she said.
“A lot of the ghosts just want to talk about their history – a lot of them don’t even know they’ve passed on.”
